Arugam Bay – World Famous Surfer Spot
Located in the Batticaloa Area on the Eastern coast of Sri Lanka, This is a very surfer and tourist friendly area, which happens to be one of the islands most beautiful locations. Left almost untouched during the civil war period, Arugam Bay is still a sleepy town, not spoilt by over-indulgence.
The Beach skirts around the bay to form a crescent shape and is well serviced by beachside huts and bars, so you can chill in between those surfing breaks. The perfect place for beginners, Arugam Bay is loved for its endless stream of right-hand sand bottom beach breaks, as well as being consistent with regular footers. You’ve got to work on that stamina for this point. April to October is high season.
Sea temperatures are around 28C degrees, while day-time highs reach 34C degrees, dropping to around 24C degrees by night. Take sunscreen, board shorts and UV rash guards
